Continuing Education will be required to renew your license.

For holders of a Cosmetology Operators license expiring on or after September1, 2006, twelve hours of TDLR approved continuing education will be required to renew that license.  Four of these hours must be in sanitation.  If a licensee holds an instructor license, then, of the total hours required, they must complete two hours in Methods of Teaching in accordance with Rule 83.101

For holders of specialty licenses for manicurist, facials, hair weaving / braiding, wigs, and shampoo/ conditioning, special certificates on or after September 1, 2006, eight hours of TDLR approved continuing education will be required to renew those licenses and /or certificates.  Four hours of the eight hours must be in sanitation.  If a licensee holds a facial instructor specialty license, or a manicure instructor specialty license, then of the total hours required, the licensee must complete two hours in Methods of Teaching in accordance with Rule 83.101

Please note that for the haircutting class you must bring a mannequin or arrange to purchase one from G.G.O. at the price of $40.00 and you must have a pair of shears with a cutting cape.

CURRICULUM
The curriculum used at G.G.O. Beauty school is based on the required curriculum as mandated by the state of Texas, due to style and fashion changes. The field of Cosmetology is a constantly changing profession.

ADMISSIONS:

TUITION INFORMATION

Since we are a new school, we cannot offer you a grant or student loan program right now but we do offer an easy “pay as you go payment plan”.  With our payment plan, you can attend school with a minimum monthly payment and as soon as your balance is paid, we send you to the state board to take your test.

Here is what you will need to start:

·                   Your Texas driver’s license or Texas State Identification Card 
·                   Your Social Security card or proof of number 
·                    High school diploma or GED, If you do not have one, you will be Required          to pass an ATB Test and the charge is $35.00.  You can enroll at G.G.O.          at the age of 15 but you must be in High School at the time of          enrollment.  If you are still in high school you cannot take the State Board          test until you turn 17 years of age. 
·                    A $100.00 money order (a non-refundable registration fee) made out  to          G.G.O. BEAUTY SCHOOL. 
·                    A $100.00 money order made out to G.G.O. BEAUTY SCHOOL for   your          first month’s payment (in advance).  This is the minimum   payment.  The          remaining balance is calculated according to your   schedule.  The full          amount will be paid in full by the time the student   graduates. 
·                    A $25.00 money order made out to TCC for your permit. 
·                    A $14.00 money order made out to TCC for the rules and regulations          book. 
·                    A uniform (which consists of black slacks or skirt, white shirt and   black          smock (white for facial/shampoo techs). 
·                   Two photos (2X2) or passport size (head shot only)

TRANSFER POLICY

All students applying for transfer into G.G.O. must furnish the school with both an Academic and FA Transcripts from all schools previously attended.  Student accepted for transfer will receive credit for documented hours as confirmed by their transcript from the Texas Cosmetology Commission, or other state agency. Students accepted for transfer will be charged a fee of $50 plus registration and other applicable fees including any books or tools.

ABILITY TO BENEFIT POLICY (ABP)
Students desiring to enter training who are beyond the age of compulsory education and do not have a High School Diploma, High School Transcript or GED, may qualify for admissions by taking and making a passing score on an Independently Administered Test approved by the Secretary Of Education.  G.G.O.  recognizes the Wonderlic basic skills test (WBST), Verbal Forms VS-1 & VS2, Quantitative forms QS-1 & QS-2, with a passing score of 200 for Verbal and 210 for Quantitative.  Applicants failing to achieve a passing score on the first test administrated will be re-tested according to test publisher’s guidelines.  Test administrators will provide documentation of the test results prior to enrollment and that document will be retained in the student permanent file.

Any prospective student who intends to enroll in a course at G.G.O. Beauty School must take and pass the Ability to Benefit Test. This test is held at G.G.O. and it is administered by G.G.O. Beauty School's Administrator. This test can only be used for enrollment at G.G.O. Beauty School, and is only administered on Wednesday.

ATTENDANCE
Regular attendance is necessary to maintain satisfactory progress throughout your schooling and will instill good attendance habits throughout your career. A minimum amount of hours are required to have satisfactory progress mandated by the Federal Government.

Student are expected to be in attendance forty (40) hours a week for full-time enrollment and a minimum of twenty-four (24) hours a week for part-time enrollment.

Absences due to illness must be documented and accompanied by a doctor's statement.

Other absences must be approved by the office prior to absence. Emergencies will be handled on an individual basis. Student must call the school prior to the beginning of their shift and inform the school of the absence or tardiness.

Unexcused tardiness, Two (2) times in one week will result in 1 day suspension.

Absence the day prior or after a holiday will be considered unexcused unless documented by a doctor's statement or pre-approved the holiday prior to admission.

Reserve your kit as soon as you receive your board date:  We pack the Brush/Bowl & Bottle method.  Students must provide the following: mannequin, toner, moisturizer, cleanser, daytime makeup, disposable applicators, curling iron and blow dryer.

Our kits are packed to exact State Board specifications: thus eliminating the frustration and extra cost of purchasing, labeling and packing your own kit.  A detailed orientation is provided at no charge.
